Megnajet at Labelexpo 2025: Digital Print, Inkjet Embellishment and Industry Energy

This year in Fira Gran Via in Barcelona, Labelexpo 2025 returned with a strong sense of momentum. The halls were alive with activity, and the atmosphere reflected a confident, thriving industry.

From major OEMs to established players, the show floor was packed with polished demos, purposeful conversations and a clear focus on print performance.

For Mike and Adam, it was an opportunity to walk the floor, reconnect with partners and explore the latest developments in label and packaging print.

Digital is everywhere - and inkjet embellishment is evolving

Digital presses were a dominant presence across the show, now firmly established as the standard in label production. But for us, it was digital inkjet embellishment that truly stood out. From eye-catching tactile elements, varnish and cold foiling, inkjet embellishment techniques were used creatively time and time again to add visual impact and perceived value. This is now a must-have offering for OEMs in the sector.

One particularly effective demonstration showed how a single matte black label design could be transformed through layering – with varnish inkjet embellishments applied before and after foiling to create multiple variations of labels from the same data set. It was a clear example of how workflow and creativity can combine to elevate print.

Posters and pictures alike benefited from these enhancements. In some cases, inkjet embellishment was used to turn basic CMYK prints into high-value pieces, drawing attention and adding depth to the final product.

Technology themes: aqueous, workflow and hybrid systems

The event showcased a confident and consistent evolution in technology. Aqueous fluids featured prominently across several stands, promoted as fast-drying and environmentally conscious solutions. The presence of workflow integration and hybrid systems further underscored the industry's commitment to enhancing efficiency, reliability and adaptability.

These themes weren’t aggressively pushed, but they were woven into the broader narrative - part of a quiet shift towards smarter, more sustainable, flexible production.

Megnajet technology in action

Our own fluid management systems were seen supporting industrial inkjet applications across the show. Megnajet partner, Inkjet Solutions featured several Megnajet and Xaar products on its stand, demonstrating the crucial role of reliable fluid control in high-performance print. We were also pleased to see our long-standing partner, Monotech, who brought their latest print and packaging innovations to the show floor. Having integrated many of our systems over the years, their presence was a strong reminder of the value of long-term collaboration.

A passionate, performance-led sector

Labelexpo 2025 was a reminder of the energy and enthusiasm that drives the label and packaging print sector - with strong attendance, solid product offerings and a clear sense of industry pride.

The event’s rebrand to Loupe marked a shift in scope, aiming to capture more of the flexible and cardboard packaging segment.

For Megnajet, it was a valuable opportunity to observe, engage and reaffirm our commitment to supporting OEMs and integrators with precision fluid management systems that enable performance, reliability and disruptive innovation within the packaging and labelling marketplace.
